Biography
Terry Drew Karanen, LSW, MSW, DD

Terry Drew Karanen has served others for more than three decades. His training and experience allow him to blend counseling, therapy, mentoring, and coaching skills to provide you with a personalized path that offers the best opportunity to enhance or create the life you were meant to live.
Terry has earned a Doctor of Divinity degree in holistic theology from the American Institute and a Master of Social Work degree in clinical mental health from Temple University. As a licensed social worker in Pennsylvania, his specializations are in individual and couples counseling, mediation, addiction counseling, and conflict resolution. He has received advanced training as an employee assistant professional (EAP), advanced alternative directives mediator, critical incident stress management (CISM) counselor, and consults for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center as an EAP counselor and social worker.
He is a retired religious science minister and spent twenty-five years serving as spiritual leader for four communities. He is the founding minister of what is now the Center for Spiritual Living (CSL) Greater Pittsburgh. He served as the spiritual leader of Unity of Harrisburg and created two other spiritual communities: the New Thought Center of Central Pennsylvania and Spirit, Mind and Body Foundation. He last served as the lead minister for Focus and Virtual Ministries at CSL. Terry continues his work through his corporation, TDKM Counseling, LLC, which is dedicated to life-affirming living. He works primarily with men to enhance emotional support among all males, particularly men who love men.
Terry is a former licensed massage therapist who practiced successfully in that field for over twenty-five years before closing his practice in 2012. He is an award-winning author of ten books, including From the Trailer Park to the Pulpit, Let Discomfort Be Your Guide, and most recently, Making Sense Of Life!, an anthology series including over 350 blogs. His past work includes a YouTube channel, where you can find over 300 short messages of encouragement, interviews, classes, and workshops he’s recorded for your encouragement. 120 of his past blogs can be found on Patheos.com. Additionally, he’s written over ten male/male romance novels under the pen name of Kenrick D. Turlock.
